g. Property Search (Map and Text)

If the user chooses the Property Search by Map and Text, SAMAView offers two ways to perform a search: using the drop-down menus or using the map. As the user advances with the search, using one option, the other search option reflects the search progress.

Property Search by Map and Text Steps

Note: If a search box becomes outlined in red then that type of search will not work for that property and/or municipality.

1. Choose a municipality

By Text

The user clicks on the search box and a drop-down list of municipalities appears. The user can either scroll down to locate their municipality or the user can type the first few letters of the municipality which will shorten the drop-down list. The user clicks on the desired municipality. The municipality will also appear on the map.

By Map

Without using the text search box the user can zoom in on the desired municipality and then the desired property, using the various map icons. The mouse can be held down and a rectangle drawn over the extent of the map that the user wishes to zoom to. The user can also point and click and the map will zoom and re-center the map on that point. Each property will have the Assessment ID number and the 100% Assessed Value indicated. The user can click on the Printer icon in the map icon toolbar if they wish to print the map. The printed map will be a section of the map that can be seen on the screen.

By Map and Text Combined

The user can use the text box to locate the desired municipality. The municipality will appear in the map. The user can choose to switch to using the map to find the desired property or the user can continue to follow the steps in the text search.

2. Choose a search option

By Text

The user has five choices and needs to click on one of them:

  • Assessment ID Number Search Option
  • Legal Land Description Search Option
  • Street Name Search Option
  • Civic Address Search Option
  • Condominium Search Option

3. Choose a _______

By Text

Depending on the Search Option chosen in Step 2, the user will have different options in the search box(es) of Step 3. For example, if the Assessment ID number Search Option was chosen, then the user clicks on the search box and a list of the assessment ID numbers for the municipality appears. The user can use the scroll bar to the right to navigate to the desired assessment ID number. The user can also start typing all or part of the assessment ID number to shorten the drop-down list. The user clicks on the assessment ID number.

Click on the Search button to start the search. The user can clear the search box(es) by clicking on the New Search button.
